About the Poster: Just like the Campbell Soup can, the Chanel no. 5 bottle has become iconic of consumer culture and this poster is a tribute to the iconic brand and Chanel's long history of promotion. It all began in 1921 via word of mouth; Coco Chanel would invite trendsetting women to smart dinner parties where she’d spritz them with the perfume. In 1954, a now-iconic interview with Marilyn Monroe for Marie Claire magazine had a journalist ask the actress what she wore to bed, and the blond bombshell deftly replied, "Why, Chanel No. 5 of course!" Suddenly, the fragrance was associated with the most glamorous movie star in the world—and sales skyrocketed.
The men's collection is called Bleu de Chanel, and this year (2023) it's poster boy is Timothée Chalemet. According to the Chanel website, "BLEU DE CHANEL exudes accomplishment through a timeless and unexpected scent. This aromatic-woody fragrance with a captivating trail embodies freedom with its strength and elegance, just like the man who wears it. The scent is available in a complete line of shaving and grooming essentials."
This is a double sided poster in good overall condition. There is visible age-related creasing and some small tears (see photos).
