This Morris Louis rare vintage 1969 Mid Century Modernist custom framed Abstract Expressionist fine art lithograph print " KAF " 1959-60, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The fine art lithograph color print is published by Abrams, No. 86794, printed in Japan in 1969 in an unnumbered limited edition. It features an artwork image originally created by Louis in 1959-60 titled " KAF ", collection John and Kimiko Powers.
This is a rare opportunity for Morris Louis and Mid Century Modernism fans and collectors both as this coveted image lithograph print is long out of print and very scarce to find.
Morris Louis Bernstein ( 1912 - 1962 ) The American Abstract Expressionist Modernist painter of Russian Jewish descent became one of the earliest exponents and leading figures in the 1950's of " Color Field " paintings, along with his contemporaries Kenneth Noland and Helen Frankenthaler. he was one of the founding members of the Washington D.C. are painters known today as " The Washington Color School ".
In his short yet prolific career, Louis continually experimented with method and medium, manipulating large canvases in creative ways to control the flow and stain of his paints.. His mature style, characterized by layered veils and rivulets of poured paint on untreated canvases, make his paintings some of the most iconic works of Mid Century Modern Color Field painting. Artworks by Louis are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The framed Abstract Expressionist fine art lithograph print measures 26 1/2" W X 20 1/2" H X 1 1/2" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern satin finish bleached white oak wood museum box style frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The print is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling.
