Jean Cocteau, born July 5, 1889 in Maisons-Laffitte and died October 11, 1963 in his home in Milly-la-Forêt, is a poet, graphic designer, draftsman, playwright and filmmaker French. He was elected to the French Academy in 1955.

One of the artists of the 20th century, he rubbed shoulders with most of those who animated the artistic life of his time. He was the impresario of his time, the launcher of fashion, the good genius of countless artists. Despite his literary works and his artistic talents, Jean Cocteau always insisted that he was first and foremost a poet and that all work is poetic.

His work can be found throughout in the French Riviera, particularly in Menton where a museum was built in memory of his great work, in the marriage salon at the city hall, and many other locations.
