The spherical design features a central well to hold matches and a textured outer surface to strike and light them. Decorated with a glazed cartouche featuring a transfer-printed, sepia portrait of Lord Kitchener, a senior British Army officer and colonial administrator who became England's Secretary of State for War in 1914. Good clean condition with some typical crazing and a few small scratches, measuring 2.5 in. height x 3 in. diameter Impressed marks on the base: 479 / MOORCROFT / BURSLEM. See less
