The cover has a red, plum shape finial and is decorated with embossed, Mandarin ducks amid embossed leaves, bud branches and tadpoles, accented with black and gold highlights, ending in gold double ringlets at the rim. The interior of the cover is unglazed. The cover art is repeated around the neck of the vase, ending in double gold ringlets with a band of embossed, black and gold Ru Yi lappets below. The body of the vase is embossed in Mandarin ducks swimming around lotus pads, buds and flowers amid the repeating accents of leaves, tadpoles and bud branches. A band of large, embossed, Ru Yi lappets encircles the foot, ending in double gold ringlets. A gold, six character, Chenghua, reign mark within double rings is glazed to the inset base. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century. See less
