It is an Approx. … Read more This is a Great Looking - Unusual Antique American Stoneware Spirits Jug. Circa Very Early 1900s. It is an Approx. 1 Gallon Liquid Storage Capacity Size. It is done in the Classic American Style 2 Color Dark Coffee Brown and Beach Sand Color Stoneware Style with a Glossy Slip Outer Glaze. Front is Advertises - is Decorated In Blue Lettering with One of Americas Oldest and Most Famous Retailers R. H. MACY & CO. NEW YORK. These type of Jugs were Commonly Used to Store a Variety of Liquids - Spirits - Liquor - Ciders - Vinegar - Spring Water Etc. Back in the Day These Type of Jugs and Other Stoneware Items were on Loan to Customers from Dry Goods - Grocery stores, Retail Establishments & Merchants Etc. So that They Could be Used and Refilled. It is in Very Nice All Original Condition and Displays Beautifully. No Damage - No Repairs. It has a Few Very Minor Surface Glaze Imperfections that Would have Occurred in the Making Kiln - Firing Process.
