This delightful rattan beauty, handwoven in a round market basket shape, is nicely-sized and quite eye-catching with its twining weave pattern; underside is handwoven in a plaited over and under weave. Bent wood handles are wrapped in rattan twining, held in place with looped rattan twine, as well. Handles are held in place by the loops and can be positioned up, crossed or slightly out to the sides but they do not release all the way down the side of the basket, fyi. Bent wood circular rim is wrapped in rattan lashing. Color is an umber to cinnamon brown hue, quite lovely and rich! Structurally sound and in excellent condition with age-appropriate wear. This beauty measures 14” high including the handle (8” without the handle); 11” x 10” W/D; interior 10½” x 9¾” x 7½” W/D/H; weight 11 oz.; handcrafted in China sometime in the 1960s. A beautiful rustic and stylish option for décor or storage!
