This Really is a Great Looking Authentic Antique American Country Primitive Stoneware Spirits Jug. Circa Late 19th Century. It is Rendered in a Classic "Beehive" Form - Shape. It has a Variable Sand Color Salt Glaze Exterior. The Front has a Beautiful Large Blue Hand Decorated Stylized Flower Design. It is Embossed with the Well Documented Makers Name of FRANK B. NORTON in WORCESTER MASSACHUSETTS. It is Also Embossed Number 2 Denoting its Two Gallon Storage Capacity. These type of Jugs were Commonly Used to Store a Variety of Liquids - Spirits - Liquor - Ciders - Vinegar - Spring Water Etc. It is in Very Good Strong - Sound and All Original Condition - Displays Beautifully. It has No Cracks - No Chips - No Repairs. Minor Imperfection Noted there is a Small Patch of Surface Glaze Loss that can Best be Seen in The 12th - Last Photograph. It Also has a Few Small "Iron Ping" Surface Imperfections and a Glaze Spot Imperfections at the Base - Perimeter All of Which Would have Occurred in The Making - Kiln Firing Process. These Types of Imperfections are Actually Quite Common Since These Pieces were Produced and Fired in Very Large Kilns in Batches with Many Other Pieces at the Same Time.
It Measures 14 1/4 inches Tall x 9 inches Wide - Long.
