This set of 2 Original posters of one of Helmut Newton's most iconic images, the diptych Sie Kommen, They Are Coming was produced on the occasion of a major exhibition held in 2019 at The Helmut Newton Foundation in The Museum for Photography in Berlin. The exhibition featured all 400+ iconic photographs from his book SUMO, followed by the work of three former assistants of his who have now established themselves as talents in their own right, Mark Arbeit, George Holz and Just Loomis, the three boys from Pasadena, and concluded with his and his wife, June's private collection of vintage photographs by leading 20th century masters.
Sie Kommen, first appeared as a two page spread in French Vogue in the fall of 1981. They Are Coming: Four Triumphant, Free, Strong Women Are On The March. The image is a double image with both halves exactly identical except for dressed and naked in high heels. Bold and provocative, the image was instantly seen as groundbreaking and as pushing the limits of what was possible in fashion photograph at the time. The work also embodied all of the characteristics of what was to become Helmut Newton's signature visual style of combining high fashion and glamour with a sense of eroticism. Today Sie Kommen is one of Helmut Newton's most iconic and celebrated images.
