The roof lifts off to expose the cavity wherre the candle would be placed. The color of the Italian terra cotta is lovely and fine. The small cottage stands about 9 inches tall with the removable roof on. The cavity is 4.5 inches in diameter. The outside of the house with roof is 5.5 inches at its widest point. There are two sets of windows and an arched front door. See less
