This Piero Fornasetti decorative plate is model 142 and features the head of Lina Cavalieri with a substance dripping down her face. Lina Cavalieri was an Italian opera singer popular in the late 19th/early 20th centuries. Fornasetti read about her in a 19th century French magazine. From then on he included her image in over 350 of his works. She was his muse until he died in the 1980s.
