This Piero Fornasetti decorative plate is model 26 and features the head of Lina Cavalieri wearing heavy black glasses. Lina Cavalieri was an Italian opera singer popular in the late 19th/early 20th centuries. Fornasetti read about her in a 19th century French magazine. From then on he included her image in over 350 of his works. She was his muse until he died in the 1980s.
