This beautiful ashtray was made on the island of Murano Style in Venice, Italy, probably in the 1950's. It is handcrafted in an art glass called aventurine glass or "monk stone" in the shape of a flower. Aventurine glass is a fusion of copper salts and glass that was discovered in the eighteenth century. The underside of ashtray is cased in black glass and is unsigned although the quality is excellent. This is a wonderful piece.
