The Militonia is often called the pansy … Read more RARE This is a matted French botanical chromolithograph that features the Militonia Orchid. The Militonia is often called the pansy orchid as its blossoms are similar in shape and color pattern to those of the pansy. It has a beautiful bloom that often blossoms twice a year. This chromolithograph dates to c 1890 and came from an unbound portfolio of orchids that we purchased in Paris. We were told that this series was published at the time of a major orchid exhibition in Brussels. This image has large wonderful rich textured white blossoms with beautiful depth of detail and quality. Note the exquisite beauty of the full blossoms set against the vibrant green leaves! This orchid is also known for its perfumed fragrance that permeates from the blossoms. Clean and pristine. 10 1/4 x 13.75 inches. Comes matted in a neutral tone 16 x 20 inch custom mat ready for a standard size frame. Comes with scientific documentation of the species (in French). Please see other orchids in our shop. See less
