The beautiful handles are curlique with beading, topped with very detailed galleon. The face of the lamps have a fabulously detailed pair of 3 dimensional galleons that are underway and appear to be in battle, as it appears there are other ships in the background. The edges have lovely beading and there is a chained cap that covers the wick area, s well as a scrolled topped pin to place in one of the holes for draft. The sides and bottom of each are a shiny surface. These beautiful lamps were possibly designed to commemorate the Battle of Lepanto in 1571 with the Venetians defeating the Turks. Hallmarks are: Italy, 800. Measurements for these fabulous creations are: Height from base to top of handle=3-1/8 inches, Length from front to back=3-3/4 inches, Width from side to side at widest=2-3/8 inches. Weight of both lamps=7.529 Troy ounces. This marvelous pair of spirit lamps have been well cared for, gently used and are in excellent antique condition, free from damage or repairs. There is very light scratching on the bottom surface, but it does not diminish the beauty or usability of these fabulous lamps.
