Compared to white wine glasses, red wine glasses are generally larger and have a wider bowl. Red wine glasses are usually more bowl-like because red wine is generally served at a warmer temperature than white (which, in contrast, is usually chilled), which allows the wine to aerate and release complex flavors and aromas. The bowl-like shape of red wine glasses makes it easier for the drinker to take in these subtle scents and tastes.

White wine glasses, on the other hand, have a narrower bowl and are usually smaller in scale. This is due to the fact that white wine is typically served chilled and the narrow bowl helps to retain the wine’s cool temperature. Another feature to note is that the stem on a white wine glass is longer, which allows the drinker to hold the glass without warming the wine with their hands.
