If the Palm Beach look is your jam, then Amanda Lindroth is a name you need to know. The West Palm Beach designer, whose work spans interiors, an eponymous shop where the stylish set flock, as well as a line of beachy chic finds, has made a serious case for her easy, breezy point of view. She pinpoints the appeal of the island-inspired aesthetic to its “happy lightheartedness, a deliberately natural and effortless look.” We caught up with Amanda to talk about her latest work of Palm Beach perfection, a dining room at the most recent Kips Bay Palm Beach Show House (the event’s first-ever pop up down south!), and she shared her tips for how anyone can channel her taste of the tropics vibe at home.

What inspired your room for the Kips Bay Show House in Palm Beach, and how did you approach the space?
“The inspiration was the 1920s. Though it was technically the dining room of the house, we set it up almost as a pass-through foyer.”

Tell us about that amazing trellis treatment and the dreamy color combo you used.
“Accents of France made our trellis for us, mercifully. It is a match project to get it right, but doable for sure. We color matched with one of the most talented colorists in the world, Edward Bulmer from the U.K. I love all things English, and the faded and complex paint colors from his collection were the inspiration. We wanted the room to look like it was original to the 1920s house, faded just the right amount!”

How did vintage play into the design of the room?
“There are bits of vintage wicker, like the round plate holders with the leather strappings. We are developing those for our line now. We also used vintage silver and accents, such as the plant stands. Everything that is not actually old was made to look old, including the giant cerused cabinet and the wall brackets.”

Besides being an orchid-lover yourself, in what ways does the space reflect your personal passions?
“It has it all: faded glamour, wicker and rattan, the tiny French berger, the Quadrille-printed toile tablecloth. It is both fresh and stately, I think.”

What are five essentials for someone trying to channel the Palm Beach look in their home?
“Open the doors, make sure there are lots of outdoor leaves placed in giant cylinders, use natural flooring materials like seagrass and sisal over wood, use solid and printed cotton fabrics, and vintage rattan and wicker, always!”

Where do you draw inspiration for your products?
“Like most of my work, I am looking at the way people lived in the tropics in every hemisphere, historically. All the treasures are there!”

What are some of your favorite hostess gifts to give during the summer party season?
“I love little baskets! I like to tie 6 to 8 of them up in ribbon for a hostess to use on their table, one for each guest. I love to serve yummy, crisp pita triangles in them, or homemade potato chips.”
