I find it hard to pass up anything old and interesting that has survived intact and gives us a glimpse of the past, especially into the materials used before there was resin to mimic something truly old! I am most drawn to metals - unusual pieces in brass, bronze, cast iron, wrought iron and pot metal will always get my attention. And there are newer pieces as well, ones that are well made - something made in France or Italy always warrants a second look, as do products created under the eye of a known designer.
