Nordic Rya was started by Anita Frydenlund in 2023. The studio designs exclusive hand-woven and hand-knotted wall-pieces in high quality materials like Mohair and Alpaca Wool.
The original vision was to create artistic home interior and art-pieces that brings texture, softness and warmth to the room as well as being tactile and three dimensional. The pieces are created so that the knotting creats thee dimensional patterns and reliefs, that way light and shadow interact with the texture of the pieces creates ever changing visual impression.
The pieces are made with old Northern European traditional weaving and knotting techniques done in a new and contemporary way. Our design and artwork aims to combine old tradition with modern design to bring something completely new to the world of art and interior design.
The colors are carefully curated and and will often be a combination of soft tone in tone combined with contrasting colors and aspects.
