Marsha Plafkin, Artist

    About

Marsha Plafkin is the founder and owner of ART AS RESPONSA (www.art-responsa.com). Marsha was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and raised in Ada.

She earned a bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Calvin University and a master of arts in Hebrew Bible from The Jewish Theological Seminary of America. Marsha studied illustration at the Parsons School of Design with an eye toward contemporary Jewish art.

As related, she attended rabbinical school at the American Jewish University in Los Angeles.

Marsha's visual arts focus includes sculpting (ceramic) and painting (oil and acrylic). Among her three dimensional work, Marsha has six designs originally manufactured in aluminum alloy (356). Among these, THE BRAILLE DREIDEL (nicknamed 'The Braidel') is available on www.shapeways.com.

This design was accessioned to the National Museum of American Jewish History (NMAJH) in 2007 as part of an effort to rip-off Marsha's copyright and design concept, specifically her 'skip-proof round-bottom' dreidel design.

In March 2020, the NMAJH filed for bankruptcy.
