Marisa Añón is a visual artist based in Valencia, Spain. She has a Fine Arts Degree and is a qualified senior conservator-restorer. She has worked professionally with all types of artworks from Gothic retables to large master paintings. Her extensive and intimate experience working with classical paintings heightened her sensitivity to romantic aesthetics, sense of pictorial lushness and harmony of colour. Her avid interest in the colour, environment and personal narratives are evident in the textural adventure and emotional depth of her still life compositions. She is highly dedicated to her art practice and paints daily. Her paintings are in private collections all over the world.
"Art for me is so much more than the paintings I make, it is a way of living. Day by day I work towards being who I am as a person and as a woman through my art. I paint the images that come into my mind, focusing on what I feel I need to do. Light and nature are my inspiration. The colours of the Mediterranean coast where I live, are part of my identity, but they are also the inspiration for my palette. Painting is a way to look into my inner world and bring it out, making it public. This makes me learn more about myself and keeps me looking forward to the future. I am passionate about my painting and spend every day in my studio, doing what I love.
