WORK from the ELEONORE STREET STUDIO
Ani and Tina are representational painters currently working in New Orleans. They maintain their own separate studios, and in addition meet 3 days a week in a shared space to collaborate on looser, large-scale abstract paintings. This cooperative studio provides the opportunity to stretch the boundaries of creativity, allowing the artists to challenge and inspire one another to experiment with new ideas in color, form, materials, and process – a counterbalance to the work the two artists create separately .
Both artists design sets and interiors and often repurpose the leftover building material to make paintings. Along with traditional oil and acrylic paint, you’ll find graphite, fabric dyes, plaster, sandpaper and latex paint on their studio shelves.
“We are inspired by nature, light, architecture, water, etc. We meet in the studio and discuss an inspiration, then we each interpret the idea using our own voice. We critique, challenge, and encourage each others work; sharing ideas and new ways of painting to create the pieces that come from the Eleonore Street Studio.”
