Gonzalez-Abreu/Alas Architects (GAA) is an award winning architecture & interior design firm; established over 25 years ago by the husband-and-wife team of Carlos Gonzalez-Abreu & Ana Alas. The only Coral Gables, architectural firm, to be selected to the Luxe Magazine Gold List Designers 2017

    From Luxe:

“Their families, communities and childhood experiences drew Carlos Gonzalez-Abreu and
Ana M. Alas to the field of architecture. Raised in a magical colonial city and under the
auspices of its inescapable grandeur and a father-builder, Gonzalez-Abreu and Alas, respectively, founded GAA Architecture | Interior Design out of a passion for the discipline’s combination of art and science. “Engineering is rational, precise and definite, while architecture has a loose and creative element that can draw you in countless directions,” Gonzalez-Abreu says. “When I discovered this, it was like being sucked into a black hole. I couldn’t resist the gravitational pull.” Likewise, Alas notes the duality of her profession as nourishing, particularly given her multifaceted background in architecture, interior design and general contracting.

Though it began purely as an architectural firm, GAA today offers services to complete every element in a given project, down to the furnishings. Asked to describe their creative process, both principals agree that the pace success brings has been a new test. “As the firm matures,
there is an increasing challenge on our time,” Alas says. “We sometimes have to shut
ourselves off from the world, only accompanied by classical music, books, digital boards
and, still to this day, trash paper—used particularly in the very embryonic stages where
copious amounts of discarded sketches are generated”.”

The firm has accumulated a vast portfolio of high-end projects, nationally & abroad. Important to their boutique-style practice is the genuine concern & individual attention. Their methodology has morphed into a full spectrum of design services available to clients offering a full integration of architectural & interior design to promote the creation of memorable environments (Principals are Registered Architects & Interior Designers). They believe these components to be inseparable aspects of the spirit of a project; resulting in a diverse spectrum of very individual buildings & spaces explicitly addressing the needs & interests of their clients.

GAA engages with a curators’ approach. We invite you to review our portfolio & a future dialogue.
