    My Story
After working for decades in the corporate world, I have found the strength to follow my heart and launch European Finds. It has taken me a long time to get here, almost a decade after I wrote my business plan. Finally, my vision has come to light!

    How did I get here?

I remember sitting in World History class in junior high learning about Versailles. It was hard to imagine the opulence of the palace, but I was sure that it was beyond anything I had ever seen - especially given my upbringing in rural Ohio. That day drove my desire to travel Europe and experience the history steeped cities. Fast forward decades to my first trip to Europe, I was instantly connected and knew I wanted to come back again and again. Working full-time made it difficult to get away as frequently as I would have liked, but I was able to visit a few more cities and each time felt an even stronger draw to stay longer and experience more. All the while, I was building a successful career in marketing but was finding myself daydreaming about starting my own antique shop with the most beautiful furnishings from around Europe. One night after an especially grueling day at work, I decided to write a business plan. Working most of the night, I shut the top on my laptop with the pleasant realization that one day European Finds would come to life.

Over the last ten years, I have been doing my research on the various periods of furniture styles, learning the terms and identification techniques and most importantly making contacts across Europe with rebuttable dealers. I am pleased to be able to bring to the United States beautiful pieces from the 18th and 19th centuries. With each piece I try to gather as much history as possible to help with authenticating the piece. Just as importantly, it helps to understand the piece and the families it has served over the centuries. Hopefully, you will find a piece that speaks to you. If not, please reach out to me, and I will keep your request in mind on my next sourcing trip.

    Cheers,

    Sheila
