Dear Lover of Art and Beauty,
Artistic expression has been my passion since I was a child, and no matter the journey, I have never stopped drawing, painting and writing.
I studied Fine Art and English Literature at Southwest Missouri State which included printmaking, drawing, pastel, acrylic and watercolor painting. I then spent 30 years raising six children, home schooling, teaching art classes, writing, getting published and becoming a professional artist.. I'm now seeing the fruit of my labors in my children and grandchildren and art.
I have lived in Maryland, DC, Missouri, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Florida. I am inspired by farmland and coastland! I currently reside on the West Coast of Florida and am always inspired by Anna Maria Island, especially the changing colors of the sky and water of the Gulf of Mexico.The beaches, islands, coastal waters, flora and fauna and skies of Florida are daily doses of awe inspiring beauty.
Life can be hard at times, but the beauty of this earth reminds me to look up and be thankful for all that God has given.
Within my home I purposed to create an atmosphere of peace and joy for my children. I gravitate to bright sun-lit colors in my art. Colors that convey peace and joy and happiness.
As I said, life can be hard: three of my very healthy children became Type 1 diabetic and my youngest son is diagnosed with Down syndrome and Autism. I am no stranger to sadness, grief and overcoming obstacles in life. Thus my mission is to communicate joy, peace and love through my art to encourage others overcoming their own obstacles in life.
As I enter the second chapter of my life, as a single mom of a special needs child, I am thankful for the forum that Chairish gives artists to easily and professionally sell art online! Creating art at home is a perfect solution for me as a single mom, allowing me to work around my youngest son's school schedule and therapies.
All of God’s creation speaks of His glory and beauty.
My prayer is to creatively express the beauty around me. I hope my art gives you joy and peace.
