Why Heritage Vanes?
Many weathervanes offered online are mislabeled, misattributed, inaccurately aged—or worse, not authentic at all. Heritage Vanes was founded to change that. Every piece we offer undergoes a meticulous, museum-grade vetting process. We research each vane or whirligig in depth, confirming its true age, maker, and competitive market value.
Authenticity and original patina are our highest priorities. Each artifact receives multiple layers of analysis—from microscopy and metallurgical testing to historical catalog cross-referencing—while ensuring its original surface remains untouched. We never over-restore or alter a piece, preserving the century-old weathering and character collectors value most.
Heritage Vanes specializes exclusively in authentic American weathervanes produced between 1850 and 1910—the golden age of vane making, when master craftsmen such as Cushing & White, J.W. Fiske, and Harris & Co. set the standard for design and craftsmanship.
Because of the time and expertise invested into each artifact, we offer only a select handful of pieces at any given time—never more than 15 pieces. This ensures that every item meets the highest standards of authenticity, originality, and collector value.
When you buy from Heritage Vanes, you’re not just purchasing a weathervane—you’re acquiring an authentic piece of American folk art history.
