Cedric Hartman's home base is Omaha, Nebraska, which is where I happened to grow up! I've known Cedric all my life, he's a family friend. He was wonderful to me when I was a kid--one of the few adults who never talked down to me, and who always seemed genuinely interested in news about my young life. He was always supportive of anything creative I attempted. My dad was a successful businessman and spent Sunday after Sunday with Ced, going over his books, helping him figure out how to make his design business profitable. My mom inspired the classic Hartman side table--she wanted the perfect sized side table for our living room, and Cedric delivered--did he ever!--like always! All the Hartman items I've listed have been in my family since their creation. My folks are gone now and I'm downsizing. It's time to let my Hartman lamps and tables be loved by someone new.
I got the mud cloth to use in group drumming programs I do. I love it, but ended it up using it only occasionally for display purposes, so it's in excellent condition. I have another piece, equally big, but it's got two small holes in it, so I thought Chairish might not want it. But if you're interested, let me know. The Chihuly-style lamp was a great statement piece in the dining area of my old house. The austere design of the house--a classic, vintage New England home, built in 1903--was a wonderful setting for the whimsical chandelier. Letting it go due to downsizing is hard, but I know it will find a good home!
