I am a third generation Austinite who grew up with a stay-at-mom who was a painter and designer. My mother was always sewing, designing something, painting, cooking, flower arranging, writing poems...and while she did all this, I was next to her doing the same thing! My mother was fabulous about "thinking outside of the box," and exemplified, "necessity is the mother of invention." And no surprise, she liked to make up her own natural beauty products and then design and sew her own clothes, and decorate her house with the ever-changing vignettes throughout the home and yard.
Where did the name Cou come from? My mother went to the Sorbonne in Paris and while there, met my father. I was born with the last name of Coutelle and Cou is the abbreviated version of that name.
I love to curate found objects and reimagine them intro objet d' art that bring curiosity and interest into your home. I'm always on the hunt to find that special something that speaks to me and I hope it also speaks to you. Please follow me as I will keep the ever changing vignette going, a la, my mama.
