A spectacular piece of history and an exceptional design statement, this authentic Imperial Russian 4-piece samovar set was crafted in Tula, Russia, by the renowned Batachev Brothers (В.С. Баташева) factory circa 1898–1915. Universally recognized as the premier makers of Russian brassware, Batachev samovars are celebrated for their incredible weight, exquisite contours, and museum-grade craftsmanship.
This magnificent piece features a beautifully fluted ("melon" or "vase" shape) nickel-plated brass body accented by its original turned wooden handles and hardware. The top lid features heavily struck, crisp factory stamps, including the Imperial double-headed eagle and prestigious industrial exhibition medals awarded to the makers.
Unlike most standalone samovars found today, this is a rare, complete collector’s ensemble. The set features four matching elements: the primary samovar heating urn, the matching under-tray, the coordinating waste bowl (both featuring corresponding factory stamps), and the highly elusive, matching chimney extension pipe.
Whether displayed as a dramatic centerpoint in a traditional dining room, featured on a rustic kitchen hearth, or integrated into a curated eclectic interior, this historic set offers an unmatched global antique presence.
Excellent antique condition with beautiful, authentic patina. The nickel plating over brass shows gorgeous, gentle wear appropriate for its 100+ year age, with warm brass undertones subtly peeking through in high-contact areas. Wooden handles are structurally sound and intact but you can see where there are some chips. All top stamps are highly legible and exceptionally well-preserved. Minor surface scuffs consistent with age; free of large dents or structural compromises. Not tested for modern functionality; sold as a historical decorative masterpiece.
