He was born in Ulm,Germany in 1921 and produced ceramic items in series which were retailed as both decorative and utilitarian artistic objects. His ceramics embody a dichotomy where the timeless appeal of ancient or traditional pottery was combined with archly Modernist and progressive movements. His works suggest inspiration from Cubist painters Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque
Helmut Friedrich Schäffenacker was born on July 5, 1921 as the son of the painter Otto Schäffenacker in Ulm. In 1949, he completed training with the sculptor Rudolf Pauschinger in Stuttgart. He founded Atelier Schäffenackerafter in the early 1950s. There he painted, created sculptures in wood and stone, and began in 1948 to work as a ceramist. He is considered one of the very first Pop artists of the 1960s. less See less
