Rare art déco goldscheider figure group of the 1930s: gallant couple: dancer in a fan-like flared dress with flounces and … Read more Rare art déco goldscheider figure group of the 1930s: gallant couple: dancer in a fan-like flared dress with flounces and floral decoration with her upper body and crossed legs leaning on the right side of the violinist standing behind her in a low-cut shirt and trousers and in a pose resting her head on his shoulder, on her shoulders a large red cloth, that reaches to the ground. The group is based on a large, round, stepped, base in cream, with gray shaded walls, artist's signature 'lorenzl' on the back of the dancer, at the bottom of the cloth. Designed by josef lorenzl (1892 - 1950), one of the most important designers who worked for the goldscheider manufactory in the period of 1920 - 1940. This model 5871 was created circa 1929. Made circa 1930 marks: model number 5871 / 40 / 7 goldscheider wien (vienna) manufactory stamp made in austria / hand-decorated painter's and former's signs existing artist's signature on the back of the figures size: height: 47.5 cm / 18.70 in width: 30.0 cm / 11.81 in depth: 27.0 cm / 10.62 in bibliography: dechant / goldscheider, goldscheider: firmengeschichte und werkverzeichnis / history of the company and catalogue of works, stuttgart (germany), 2007, page 417, number 5871 condition: very good - signs of age, no damage, no restoration.
