Meissen very interesting figurines' group: the legacy hunter or ancient love the details are stunningly scupltured = finest modelling manufactory: meissen dating: made circa 1870 hallmarked: meissen mark with pommels on hilts (19th century) first quality model number a 46 / former's number 40 / painter's number 1 material: multicolored porcelain, partially golden painted, glossy finish technique: handmade porcelain style: rococo design: johann joachim kaendler (1706-1775) since 1731 sculptor at meissen manufactory, he is one of the best modellers meissen manufactory ever had. Kaendler designed the group 'ancient love / the legacy hunter' circa 1765. First quality specifications: an old woman having sat down on an upholstered rococo chair is courted / wooed by a gallant man who kisses back of her right hand. Next to man's feet there is a little satyr with a gnome's features visible: it holds some documents in both hands - these paper sheets have been drawn of a half-open casket being visible on earth. A small money box is visible on woman's lap. The figurines are excellently coloured in various shades. The details - look for example at the figurine's characteristic features, please, - are excellently modelled: these facts indicate the highest quality of work here. The figurines are based on flat support depicting earthy-rocky ground.
