Extremely well rendered genre scene, featuring a young woman selling fresh produce on the street. Her baby is playing with a cat
Painted by Albert Pierre Roberti, a mid 19th century Belgian artist, born in 1811. He was a celebrated master of historical and religious subject, genre scenes, interiors and portraits. He studied art with Francois Joseph Navez at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and became a professor in the same Academy, while Navez was the director.
The painting is signed lower right with an interlaced monogram APRoberti
A printed description from a previous collector remains attached on the back as well as a foil label from the framing studio
Well presented in a molded giltwood frame, off white matting with gilt border, under glass, ready for your wall

Measurements: Approx. 17.5" x 15.5" framed; 9.7" x 7.7" the scene
