An impressive original watercolor painting created by the noted Boston nad New England artist Marjorie Vickers Very
A landscape with trees and wild flowers, an image that captures the quintessential beauty of New England and irradiates its calm and serene atmosphere
Marjorie Vickers Very (1896-1985) was a well-known painter and illustrator of Beacon Hill and Boston cityscapes, as well as more rural views of New England, New York, New Jersey, Maine and West Virginia. Born in Hyde Park, Massachusetts, she was a student at Carnegie Technical School of Design in Pittsburgh, the Boston Museum School, and the New School in Boston. She was the first woman accepted to the Boston Watercolor Society, and was also a member of the New York Water Color Club, the Boston Water Color Club, the Copley Society, the Gloucester, Rockport, and Provincetown Art Associations, and the Glendale, California Art Association
Marjorie Very did book illustrations that included "The Marble Faun" by Henry James, Conrad Aiken's "Nocturne of Spring, Remembered", and "Rainbows and Echoes from Fairyland" by Dorothy Whipple. She was also a teacher at the New School in Boston from 1920 to 1924, and taught privately throughout her career.
She had many summer painting trips to Gloucester, Rockport and Provincetown, Massachusetts and to the Gaspe Peninsula and Quebec in Canada, to rural New Hampshire, Maine, Virginia, and Connecticut, and Staten Island, New York.
She exhibited extensively throughout the country. (ref.: ask art site)
