This set of nine (9) vibrant color lithographs (not offset lithographs) depict geometric abstractions from the portfolio entitled "Shapes" by the listed French artist Emile Lahner (France 1893-1980). The palette and composition really make this portfolio "pop". Printed on one side only on Arches fine art paper. Printed in France in 1973 by Adrien Maeght Our research finds that these images are very rare. Only 250 in french and 250 in English and who knows how many have survived. The colophon is signed by Lahner and numbered "81". The 9 lithographs are included in this listing as well as the colophon, table of plates text and the hard portfolio. Dimensions; 8,5" x 12". Great for a large wall treatment or several smaller groupings
Emile Lahner (Hungary/France 1893 – 1980) was a Hungarian born painter who moved to Paris in 1924 and became part of the School of Paris, a group of international artists working in Paris between 1900 and 1940. Due to oppression Lahner moved to Paris in 1824. .From the 1960s until his death in 1980, Lahner continued to exhibit. He was known for his wide breadth of stylistic exploration, informed through his early exposure to the Art Nouveau, Constructivist, Synthetic, and Non-objective art movements in Eastern Europe. While living in Paris, he was greatly influenced by Post-Impressionism, Fauvism, Cubism, and Primitivism. Lahner's close friends included artists and writers Jean Bouret, Léopold Sédar Senghor, Jean Trichet, Marcel Sauvage, and André Masson. (Wikipedia)
