Kutani is a style of Japanese porcelain, all of which is handpainted by master artisans. Some of the pieces are kiln fired for hours multiple times to bring the artist's specific vision to life.
For example, this piece has been fired several times to create the multiple layers of art as you will be able to tell when you see and touch it. All of the surface gold detailing is raised.
