Meissen rarest art nouveau item: the wave size: height 3.34 inches depth 6.10 inches width 8.26 inches manufactory: meissen
hallmarked: blue meissen sword mark (glazed bottom) model number q 169 / former's number 182/126 first quality
dating: turn of century, made circa 1900

modelled by: julius konrad hentschel (1872-1907) the sculptor studied at academy of arts at munich and dresden; since the year 1889 he has been active in meissen manufactory as designer and modeller. - model q 169 was designed in year 1898.
specifications: it is a bowl - shaped as undulating wave, from which a long-haired mermaid is arising (her unclad upper body is visible). The modelling is of finest quality, the details are stunningly worked: please look at the sea foam / ocean foam visible at edge of bowl or at the lovely features of mermaid! bibliography: thomas bergmann, the art of meissen figures / model numbers a 100 - z 300, erlangen / germany 2010, page 237 / catalogue number 450
