Acquired from estate owner who had said this was one of two nearly identical chest belonging to her great uncle of Houston, Texas whom had spent most of his life remodeling and building custom homes and barns. This chest being the one that he’d predominately used. Handcrafted of solid old growth pine featuring heavy duty cast iron drop handles, riveted steel corner brackets, brass inset flush mount lid pull, and an antique Craftsman rough saw, along with small assortment of various hand saws in lower cubby, the small collection that will be included with this piece can be found in condition notes, where it will be further detailed. Piece is in “as found” condition, other than a protective coating of beeswax has been applied to bring life back to the wood, and better preserve it’s 100+ year old patina, circa 19th century Houston, Texas, USA. - Excellent condition showing age appropriate wear, the Craftsman rough cut saw and other various saws are original to the collection, … moreExcellent condition showing age appropriate wear, the Craftsman rough cut saw and other various saws are original to the collection, Vaughn rigging axe belonged to dealer and was used in the latter portion of a 20 year career for general framing and remodeling projects until thrown rather abruptly into this line of work, we exited the remodeling business in pursuit of the possibility of something greater than the general slop and hack building techniques that sadly have taken the place of a once highly skilled profession that used to be more of an art than anything, a thing of mastery and awe. This chest does very well to reflect these things we have all but lost with time. The few small hand tools, files, rivet gun, etc., we will inevitably be keeping yet putting to good use in the near future for other such works. Piece is in “as found” condition, heavy and solid built with much love, care, and consideration, wear consistent with age and normal use of time and period. . less
