Nowadays, the Czech Republic takes pride in more than a hundred glass artists of four generations. Lada Semecká belongs to those Czech artists whose talent and diligence has made them a strong and inspiring part of the Czech glass art world.
This piece is a slightly tinted pale green work that has a translucent dream-like quality. Lada Semecká studied at the Glass making school in Kamenický Šenov, the Institute of Art in Ústí nad Labem (assistant professor Pavel Mizera) and the Prague’s Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design (prof. Vladimír Kopecký), she worked in the engraving shop of Moser, the famous Carlsbad’s glassworks, served as the head of Glass painting workshop at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design and taught at the Toyama City Institute of Glass Art in Japan. Her artistic aesthetics were formed not only by her studies and work experience, but also by meeting people – teachers, colleagues, and students – who encouraged her to seek her own approach and artistic expression.
The work most similiar to this piece is described as folloiws:The installation of glass images - cloud systems - are a record of low-frequency vibrations and, with their visuality, report on the way waves spread through space. Clouds, as infinitely variable forms, bear the form of waves, but the frequency of which does not interfere with the sound field. On the other hand, in interactive acoustic objects, he deals with the possibilities of shape and material in relation to sound and space, explores the visual and acoustic expression of selected classical materials, the intermingling of sensory perception and imagination, mapping the boundaries of an art artifact, design and sound. The intention of the installation is to create a contemplative situation in which sound perception is a confirmation of silence.
