In that era A single pineapple could cost what would now be $6000. In colonial times pineapples came to symbolize hospitality and shared generosity and were often used on the signs of inns. They have a long and consistent use as an image in all kinds of decorative styles for the past 250 years. See less

- These are in very good vintage condition, there are no deep mars to the surface of the metal and there … moreThese are in very good vintage condition, there are no deep mars to the surface of the metal and there is no breakage , cracks or structural damage. I believe that these are likely steel possibly some sort of an aluminum base, but not pewter or silver as they are fairly heavy and the metal isn’t soft. They do show discoloration that is common among vintage items of this age. I chose not to alter the patina by polishing these. I simply cleaned them with a soft cloth and took photos. Please do examine all attached photographs. less
