This special piece features Manjushree with lowered head in the motion of observing and taking action. Seated in vajrasana on a double lotus throne, in his right hand the flaming sword of power and wisdom, his left hand in jnana mudra, gesture of teaching. Clad in a dhoti that ties around his lower waist exposing his torso adorned with various necklaces and armbraces. The small serene face with downcast eyes and hair surmounted by a foliate tiara in front of the braided chignon. Legend has it that he cuts water with the sword to divide the water resource to irrigate dry valleys. Manjushree is believed to have great power to remove evil and obstacles. See less
