A striking example of 1930s decorative lighting, this gold gilt table lamp features a hand-gilded verre églomisé (reverse-painted and gilded glass) globe and column form with intricate black-and-white floral decoupage and etched detailing.
The artwork is applied to the interior of the glass, creating a layered, luminous effect. It rests atop a circular stepped base, preserving its original antiqued hardware. The lamp includes a double-socket cluster, each accommodating a 75-watt bulb, with elegant beaded-ball chain pulls ending in petite bell finials. A riser elevates the lampshade by an additional six inches, enhancing its stature and presence.
