Emanating mythical elements with incredible detail and texture, this hand knotted wool antique Chinese Ningxia bench runner is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The dragon design and symbolic colorway woven into this piece work together creating a truly unique look. This Chinese bench runner features six medation squares and most likely was used to cover benches in a Chinese monastery. This is one single piece; however, they are often cut into individual squares and used as meditation mats. Each square depicts a five claw dragon enclosed with a Greek T-meander border. Dragons typically with five claws on each foot symbolized the emperor in many Chinese dynasties.
