An exquisite example of American studio art pottery, this signed Tony Evans Raku ceramic vessel combines a wonderfully organic sculptural form with a dreamy, painterly palette of softly blended pastel colors.
Measuring an impressive 11 inches across, the vessel features a generously rounded, low-profile body that rises into a beautifully sculpted, softly squared opening. Its gently curved silhouette creates a striking contrast between the fluid contours of the body and the more architectural character of the opening.
The extraordinary surface treatment is where this piece truly shines.
Layers of seafoam green, powder blue, lavender, and creamy ivory mingle across the ceramic surface, accented by irregular passages of coppery gold and subtly iridescent metallic color.
The interplay of matte and luminous glazed areas creates a fascinating, almost atmospheric effect reminiscent of watercolor washes, mineral deposits, and weathered natural surfaces.
Beautifully balanced in both form and color, the vessel has a wonderfully tactile quality that invites closer examination.
Sculptural Beauty from Every Angle
The broad, rounded profile gives this piece the visual presence of a miniature ceramic sculpture.
Its distinctive opening and softly undulating rim add architectural interest, while the extraordinary glaze variations ensure that the vessel remains captivating from every viewing angle.
A beautiful addition to Mid-Century Modern, Contemporary, Organic Modern, Bohemian, California Modern, or Minimalist interiors.
Display it independently as a sculptural centerpiece on a dining table, console, credenza, library shelf, or entryway table.
The gorgeous pastel palette also makes it particularly striking against walnut, travertine, warm white, charcoal, or natural stone.
A wonderful example of decorative art that is equally compelling as a functional vessel and an independent sculptural statement.

Condition: This vintage ceramic vessel is in excellent overall condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs noted.
The original Raku surface displays beautiful variations in color, texture, and metallic finish associated with its decorative firing process.
There are what appear to be a few ink-pen marks on the interior, as shown in the photographs.
New protective felt feet have been added to the underside to help protect furniture surfaces.
The piece retains its original Evans signature and number 98.
A wonderful addition to a collection of American studio pottery or a distinctive decorative accent for the contemporary home.
