Striking, graphic and wonderfully modern, this matched pair of vintage hand-blown cased art glass vases features a dramatic striped design reminiscent of classic mid-century Italian and Murano glass.

Each vase is formed in clear glass with bold alternating ribbons of opaque white and very deep oxblood — a color so dark in some lighting that it reads nearly black. The vertical ribbons twist and sweep around the bodies of the vases, creating a wonderfully fluid pattern that changes from every viewing angle.

The clean elongated form provides the perfect contrast to the energetic striped decoration, giving the pair a sophisticated Op Art / modernist quality that feels remarkably contemporary.

Both bases show evidence of hand finishing associated with blown-glass production. The vases are unsigned and retain no surviving maker labels, so while their construction and decoration are strongly reminiscent of mid-century Murano and Italian art glass, the specific maker and country of origin remain unidentified.

Displayed together, the pair has tremendous visual impact. They would look fantastic on a walnut credenza, console table, mantel, dining buffet, bookcase or contemporary pedestal, either empty as sculptural objects or filled with simple architectural foliage.
