Born in Pittsburgh, American artist Norman Kent (1903 - 1972) attended the Rochester Institute and trained at the Art Students League in New York under Leftwich Dodge. He learned the art of the woodcut under Allen Lewis and became a prominent print maker, known for his city scenes and historic barn woodcuts. He taught at Hobart and William Smith College in Geneva, NY before becoming editor of American Artist magazine for 25 years.
