A wonderful panorama of 60 woodblock panels inspired by the waterfront of Monterey, California. A hard to find Very Good First Edition with the Author's initials in round pink stamp inside front cover..
There are light spots where slip case has openings to withdraw the book. Original brown slipcase with printed label, partial crack at bottom panel of slipcase.
Antonio Frasconi (1919-2013), born and raised in Uruguay, in 1945 awarded a scholarship to the Art Students League in New York, taught at the New School for Social Research. "An internationally known woodcut artist, Frasconi has published hundreds of prints and illustrated many books.The artist conducted classes at Pratt Institute, the Brooklyn Museum School, and the Atlanta Art Institute, and was on the faculty of the State University of New York at Purchase. Fransconi's prints are in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Museum of Modern Art." - National Gallery of Art online
