The artist was contacted for details/provenance and said that this original, abstract expressionist painting was inspired by the American artist, Adolph Gottlieb, and was one of a series that she did. It's a moody mixed media abstract on paper, in the original frame, which she believes was framed by her father.

About the Artist:
Ellen Soffer is a contemporary abstract painter, born in 1957. She creates paintings on canvas and paper, using mainly oils, but also gouache, acrylic, and watercolor. She received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art. She has exhibited across the United States, with over twenty solo exhibitions in Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Texas, and Georgia, and has taken part in numerous group shows. She has been awarded several residencies, including Skowhegan School and Ragdale Foundation and is the recipient of the Shreveport Regional Arts Council’s Visual Arts Fellowship. Currently, Ellen Soffer lives and works in Shreveport, LA. See less
