Title: "First Salute to Stars and Stripes Quiberan Bay, France 1778." The original painting is in the U.S. Naval Academy Museum, Annapolis. Signed and dated (1950) by the artist lower left "J. D. Shoots from the painting by Edward Moran". This original was done for the Osborne Company that planned on making prints.
Edward Moran (1829-1901) was an English born American artist of maritime paintings.
