They were often used for colored drinks like Daiquiris, Party Punch, Mojitos, spiked lemonades, etc. due to the fact that the color of the drink would reveal the pattern in better detail. They are perfect for a variety of mid-century bar styles from Tiki to Atomic, but they are indeed very tall, and so aptly named tumblers, so exercise caution around guests who talk with their hands.
